Michael Cochrane and Jennifer Krob represented the Respondent before Justice Mesbur of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, who found that U.K. civil unions for same sex couples are the equivalent of marriage for the purposes of divorce and family law in Ontario. The Heydary Law Firms make Lexpert's Top 10 Business Decisions for 2012
After soliciting the opinions of forty law firms that considered Canadian decisions rendered at all levels of court and tribunals between November 1, 2011 and October 31, 2012, Lexpert chose its Top 10 Business Decisions for 2012. Hryniak; Bruno Appliance and Furniture v. Hryniak; Lakeshore v. Mikes; Parker v. Casals, and subsequently appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada on March 26, 2013 in the Mauldin and Bruno case. Heydary Hayes PC also appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada in Entertainment Software Association and Entertainment Software Association of Canada v. Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada.
